Beta Release of RIAnimation

February 3, 2008 17:22 by J Christopher Bannon

Hey guys, I just published the latest version of RIAnimation. It is the latest build for both the .NET 2.0 and 3.5 Frameworks. The build contains some nice new features and some fixed bugs.

What's New?

I have added HoverOver and HoverOut as officially supported events. I have also added a much requested Toggle event. This is a click event that fires a function on the even clicks and the opposite on the odd clicks. This is a really nice feature to implement animations on toggled modules. I used it on my site as the expand and collapse lists of RIAnimations properties. Please keep sending feedback and let me know how you are using it! I would love to post about someone using it in a real world app.

Keep it fresh -Chris

Hi Chris,
First can I just say what you have done with RIAnimation is superb and is exactly the thing I was after.

I'm working on a web application/site called Ph.Art Gallery http://www.phartgallery.com.au and it being a photographic site requires alot of dazzling animations and while researching came across RIAnimation.

The only problem that I've come across is when I use RIAnimate with DotNetNuke. DotNetNuke if you haven't already heard is a Asp.Net CMS and it would be great if you can come up with a release that is compatiable with DotNetNuke.

Cheers keep up the great work.

Khoa, Thanks for the kind words! I am glad to see people using it for real-world applications. We will be releasing the official Version 1 of the control soon. It will have most bugs worked out and be much more robust.I will also consider the DotNetNuke idea. Thanks again -Chris

Hi Chris,

Very nice control. I am attempting to use the toggle feature, however, when setting returns=true on the control, no postback is performed (this can be repro'd on the website demo you have available for download by setting returns="true" on the RIAnimator3 control and adding a click event in the code behind for the BtnToggle button).

I am using your latest build in VS2005. I would love to roll this to production as the animation effects are very smooth, but I'm on hold until Toggle with postback is available.

Thanks for your help,
Jason

PS - I'm not sure where to send bug reports, so I hope you check this!

Jason, I will look into fixing this bug now. We will also be setting up a Forum soon and possibly adding a bug tracker when we do the Version 1 Release. Thanks for the feedback again!
